From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
